“Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.” – A Hat Full Of Sky, Terry Pratchett

Hello internet, it’s been a while! I am so excited to officially welcome you to my new blog. I’ve had this redesign in my head for such a long time and I’m so happy that it’s officially here and I can share it with all of you. I also need to immediately thank my friend Nic, who has put so many hours into implementing and designing this new site, that I literally owe him my life.

2018 has been quite the year of change for me. In fact, so much has happened since the start of this year that I feel like I am a completely different person now than I was just a few months ago. I quit my job, I ended a three year relationship, I travelled to the other side of the world on my own and pushed myself into situations which tested every aspect of my strength. Through all of this, I found layers of myself that I never previously realised were there. I discovered my own resilience, my persistence and a new level of self-awareness.

Most importantly, I started a new journey towards self-love, which I’ve recently learnt is the most important journey that I could possibly be on right now. My experiences this year have taught me how important it is to prioritise myself – something that I’d not previously been allowing myself to do.

So, this year has brought positive and negative changes to my life, but I can confirm that I have definitely come out stronger. And so, with all change, I needed something to commemorate this period of growth, and this new blog felt like a great way to mark a new beginning.

“Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.”  – Rumi

It really has felt like a while since I’ve posted any form of updates on the blog, and weirdly, I can tell that not writing here has been negatively affecting my brain. Even now, as I try to write, I can feel the cogs in my mind trying to shake themselves free of the cobwebs which have been forming on them. Because I’ve noticed that not writing is really, really bad for me. It’s been turning me into a version of myself who I didn’t like. A person who was unmotivated and unhappy, and I feel so excited to have this new space to create words again.

So, what’s in store for this new blog?

Well, there may not be too many changes on the content side of things. I still want to use this as my own personal space to write about anything and everything that comes to my mind, be that frank discussions on mental health, or just reviews of what I’ve been binging on Netflix lately. This blog has always been my own personal space to share the thoughts that I can’t hold in my mind, and any of you who come along to read my rambles are an added bonus to me.

So things aren’t going to be too much different around here. You can still expect book reviews, travel guides, random rambles on feminism and pop culture, and photos of my extensive collection of culottes.

As always, nothing is off limits when it comes to what I post here, and alongside the lighthearted lifestyle posts, I want to use this new space to shed light on important topics, amplify unheard voices and, as I always try to do, be as open as possible with my mental health.

I’ve been writing online for close to eight years now, and there’s never been a moment where writing content and putting my thoughts into words hasn’t made me unbelievably happy. Knowing that people out there even want to read the things that tumble from my brain is amazing to me, and I’m so excited to have a handful of you to share this new chapter with.

This new blog was designed by my very talented friend, Nic Dunn, who is soon to be launching his own web design company, Charle. For updates on the company launch or to enquire about his services, take a look at his Instagram here. He’s a dedicated and hardworking chap, and as you can see, his blog designs are out of this world.
